O Extrativismo no Brasil ainda é praticado de forma arcaica, apesar da queda brusca neste tipo de atividade. O extrativismo da biodiversidade já foi fonte grandes riquezas como a extração de borracha da seringueira e do cacau. O extrativismo mineral já foi carro-chefe da economia nacional no período do ciclo do ouro.
